Main Presentation: The Paleovedic Diet by Akil Palanisamy, MD

Many have asked among the myriad of diets, “Which one is for me?” Dr. Palanisamy answers this question in his book, The Paleovedic Diet: A Complete Program to Burn Fat, Increase Energy and Reverse Disease. In this book, Dr. Palanisamy blends the best of the modern scientific method with the time honored ancient healing system, Aruveda. His approach helps to understand a person’s biochemical individuality and develops a diet and lifestyle plan that is individualized for each person. He also discusses the importance of nutrition, intermittent fasting, exercise, sound sleep, a balance of the mind-body-spirit, connectiveness, and the role of toxins and detoxification.

About Dr. Palanisamy, MD

dr.palanisamyDr. Akil Palanisamy, MD, is a physician who practices integrative medicine, blending his conventional medical expertise with evidence-based holistic approaches, including functional medicine and Ayurveda. He studied biochemistry at Harvard and completed his medical training at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and Stanford University, followed by a fellowship with Dr. Andrew Weil at the University of Arizona. He currently practices at the Sutter Health Institute for Health and Healing in San Francisco. He is the author of the book “The Paleovedic Diet: A Complete Program to Burn Fat, Increase Energy, and Reverse Disease”.

 

 

Short Presentation: When and Why The Brain Fails- What Can Be Done To Restore Function? by Sergio Azzolino, DC, DACNB

Dr. Azzolino is an expert in functional neurology and will take us on a journey of understanding how the many aspects of neurological development coalesce to make us human.  He will discuss injuries, infectious and exposures to toxins that are responsible for a decline in function and most importantly what can be done to restore function and vitality.  He will share the many objective measures that can be used to assess and rehabilitate cognitive performance, spatial awareness, balance and coordination, sensory and motor processing.

About Dr. Azzolino, DC, DACNB

dr. azzolinoDr. Sergio F. Azzolino is an internationally renowned Chiropractic Neurologist who has been serving his profession and patients from around the world since 1995. In 2012 he was appointed by Governor Brown to the California State Board of Chiropractic Examiners, reappointed in 2016, and served as Chair for several years.
He is a 2017 graduate of Harvard Medical School’s Global Clinical Scholar Research Program.

He holds Board Certifications in Chiropractic Neurology through the American Chiropractic Neurology Board and has been serving as Vice President since 1997. He also holds Board Certifications in Pain Management, and is a Fellow of the American College of Functional Neurology and of the American Board of Childhood Development Disorders.

He was voted Chiropractic Neurologist of the Year in 1999 by the ACA, and Clinician of the Year in 2010 at the International Conference of Functional Neurology. He is the director of Azzolino Chiropractic Neurology & Integrative Wellness, which is a fully integrated multidisciplinary practice of Chiropractic Neurologists, Medical and Naturopathic physicians specializing in the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of complex health issues. Dr. Azzolino has blended his background in nutrition, sports medicine, functional medicine and neuroimmunology to provide a comprehensive and unique approach to his patients’ care and works with numerous professional athletes in their quest to maximize performance and recovery from injuries.

He is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Neurology for the Carrick Institute for Graduate Studies, post-doctorate preceptor faculty at Logan University, Life University, and Palmer Chiropractic College West. And is also a post-doctorate residency supervisor for National College of Natural Medicine, and Bastyr University.
